Ares Charitable Foundation and Adara: partnership announcement

Today we’re delighted to announce our newest partnership with the Ares Charitable Foundation (the Ares Foundation). At Adara, we are so grateful to have businesses from across the globe join us, standing shoulder-to-shoulder with people living in poverty. These partnerships work because our values are deeply aligned.

The Ares Foundation is sponsored by Ares Management LLC (Ares), a leading global alternative investment manager, and envisions a world in which people benefit from equitable access to knowledge, resources and opportunities so that they can achieve their full potential. Launched in 2021, the Ares Foundation’s mission is to help accelerate economic equity and equality by supporting non-profits and initiatives that promote career preparation and reskilling, encourage entrepreneurship and deepen individuals’ understanding of personal finance.

“When we first began talking to the Ares Foundation, it immediately became clear how a partnership with Adara would align with their mission,” says Jessica Kubowicz, Adara’s Director of Partnerships. “As we started unpacking our AdaraRemote model, we also saw how the Ares Foundation could help us deepen our work with young people in Nepal.”

That’s why we’ve joined forces to localise higher educational opportunities for youth in remote Nepal, helping them pursue careers of their choice. We share a belief that less advantaged youth, especially girls and young people from rural and remote areas, deserve equal access to vocational, technical and higher education opportunities. This will help prepare them for successful workforce entry and participation.

“A central part of the AdaraRemote model is improving access to equitable and quality higher education, and supporting youth to fulfil their potential,” says Jessica.

“The Ares Foundation’s support will help us strengthen and grow this work so more youth can enter meaningful employment.”

“We appreciate Adara’s commitment to best practices and excellence in programme delivery so that historically less advantaged youth receive the training and preparation they need to pursue their career of choice,” says Michelle Armstrong, Managing Director at Ares and President of the Ares Foundation. “In addition to supporting young people, Adara consistently demonstrates thought leadership by sharing its lessons learned with mission-aligned nonprofits to help spur global impact.”

Together, we will:

  • Support students in Grades 9 and 10 to sit their Secondary Education Examinations (SEE), which are needed to progress to upper-high school.
  • Localise higher education opportunities for youth in the Humla region, including introducing Plus Two (Grades 11 and 12) courses across various subjects, including science, to open up doors for tertiary or vocational study.
  • Provide scholarships for youth to pursue vocational and tertiary education that is not available in their home region.
  • Strengthen local employment opportunities, particularly for teachers, including through professional development opportunities.
  • Create and disseminate AdaraRemote resources highlighting Adara’s education approach. These will be freely available online to other organisations, educators and stakeholders to learn from and replicate in their own settings.

We’re so incredibly grateful to the Ares Foundation for this new partnership. Together, we will support thousands of young people to reach their potential through the power of education. Watch this video about our partnership:
