Adara Development is an international development organisation that supports communities living in poverty with health, education and other essential services. It also includes a ‘for purpose’ part whose sole objective is to fund Adara Development’s admin and emergency project costs.
Since 1998, we’ve built Remote Community Development programmes that improve health and education outcomes in remote areas in Nepal. After 27 years, the Adara Group is scaling significantly, and we are seeking an enthusiastic and energetic education specialist to join the Nepali team to lead our Education Programme.
Key objectives of THE ROLE
The overall goal of this job is to uplift the quality of Adara’s education work and increase the impact of our programmes to ensure all children (especially girls in Adara’s partner communities in Humla and Ghyangfedi), have access to quality education up to higher secondary and above, so that the community has an educated and employable population, and children are protected from trafficking and abuse.
In this role you will:
- Execute Adara’s Remote Education model, oversee all education projects, and provide input into strategic plans and budgets;
- Manage staff on the ground to deliver education projects in Nepal;
- Upscale and share our education work globally;
- Engage key stakeholders and community.
This role is based in Nepal and the successful candidate must be a Nepali citizen.
Knowledge, skills, and competencies:
- Master’s degree in education or relevant subject
- At least 7 years of relevant experience
- Experience working for government or non-governmental organisations
- A leader, able to work independently and use initiative
- An understanding of development principles and how to apply them in line with Adara Development (Nepal)’s long-term vision
- Excellent people management and leadership skills
- Good computer skills and communication skills in Nepali and English
- Willingness to travel and work in the remote Humla district for lengthy periods of time
