Dr Susan Tino

Dr Susan Tino is Adara’s Director of Maternal, Newborn and Child Health (MNCH). She leads Adara’s MNCH stream of work to significantly improve MNCH outcomes in Uganda and globally

Dr Tino is a key member of Adara’s Global Leadership Team, and oversees the planning, implementation, and evaluation of Adara’s MNCH programmes, including our high-impact AdaraNewborn model which has the power to halve newborn deaths and stillbirths across 10 health facilities in Uganda over the next decade.

Dr Tino has fourteen years of experience in the health sector, including leadership in health systems strengthening at district, community, and health facility levels. A public health specialist with a clinical background in MNCH, she has extensive expertise in strategic leadership, project management, monitoring, capacity building, and grant development.

Previously, Dr Tino served as IntraHealth International Director of Health Services Delivery with USAID’s Regional Health Integration to Enhance Services in Eastern Uganda (USAID RHITES-E) Activity. She was also the Project Manager for the Scale-Up and Capacity Building in Behavioural Science to Improve the Uptake of Family Planning and Reproductive Health Services (SupCap) project in Uganda.

Dr Tino holds a Master of Science in Public Health, an Advanced Certificate in Leadership and Management in Health, a Bachelor of Medicine and a Bachelor of Surgery. At national level, she has participated in key committees with the Uganda Ministry of Health including in Family Planning, Maternal Child Health, and Social and Behaviour Change Communication Technical Working Groups.
